Are you ready for some football??!!
It's about that time of year again... fantasy drafts are taking place, employees are killing hours a day at work to research players, restaurants are preparing millions of tons of wings....
Yep, that's right folks, it's football season. Preseason has officially started and players are getting the chance to show their stuff. I was lucky enough to get free tickets to the Jets preseason game against Minnesota, so a couple of friends and I decided to take a journey to Jersey. It started out with waiting in line to board the buses at Port Authority. There are definitely some interesting characters going to NFL games. The guys in front of us in line were, to say the least, a bit intimidating. There were about 3 guys, each of whom had multiple "gold teef". My friend noted the irony of how people that seem like they can't afford the Wendy's dollar menu are still able to scrounge together enough money to attend football games. Fans... sometimes there's no rhyme or reason.
The game itself was pretty slow. It was a preseason game after all. The Jets ended up overcoming the Vikings 28-21. The bus ride home was more interesting. After driving for about 20 min, the 85 yr old driver took a wrong turn somewhere on the turnpike and we ended up heading back towards the stadium. Once the people in the front of the bus realized this, the jokes began. "Hey driver, I'm going to NY!" "Hey, the Giants preseason game isn't until tomorrow night!" Luckily the fans were in a good mood and there wasn't a riot on board. In the end, what should have been a 20 min ride ended up being about 45 min. Sometimes I really miss having a car...
Anyway, can't say I'm a Jets fan, but good luck to them this year. Hopefully I'll be able to score more tickets and attend some real games.
Go Indy and Texans!!
