Damn Nike
I just received an email that Nike is not coming to NYC this year for their annual Run Hit Wonder 5K (which this year has changed names to Run Hit Remix). I can't express how disappointed I am at this news. I've participated in this run every year for the past 3 years and it's something that I look forward to every summer. It's always a lot of fun since Nike brings in bands to entertain the runners along the route and there's generally a recognized band that plays for the masses after the race. In the past 3 years, they've brought in Joan Jett (2005), Tone Loc and others (2004), and Everclear w/Mos Def (2003).
I feel like I'm getting robbed of an annual tradition. Not sure what I'm going to do with myself this summer. Not to mention that this throws me off schedule for completing my 9 qualifying races for automatic entry into the 2007 NYC marathon. I'm now forced to find a replacement race that I wasn't planning on doing originally.
And my biggest gripe is that they're robbing me of my chance of possibly running into Jason Lewis (aka Smith Jerrod) - no pun intended. For those that don't know, Jason Lewis is an actor who played Jerry "Smith" Jerrod (Samantha's boyfriend) in Sex and the City. He participated in the 2004 race and I've kept a lookout at the races ever since. He's pretty easy on the eyes...
Damn Nike.
