Boston

Took a quick trip to Boston this past weekend. I think we actually spent a total of 26 hours in Boston and another 7 driving. It was nice to get out of the city for a little while. The drive was refreshing as well. I haven't driven a long distance in years. I forget how draining it can be. I was exhausted by the time I got home Sunday night.

Two of my friends were kind enough to accompany me on the road trip up to Boston. I went to attend a high school friend's wedding reception and my friends went to just hang out in the city. The reception was very nice. I hadn't seen my high school friend in almost a year, so it was good to catch up for the short minute that we had to chat. And I learned a lot more about her now husband. I had met him only once before and had a general impression, but after the reception, I think I have a better idea of what kind of person he is. Their friends put on a few presentations/roasts about them during the reception which were quite funny. The ones about my friend proved that she hadn't changed all that much since high school. The ones about her husband showed that he is a really genuinely nice person so I'm very happy for her. I'm sure theirs is a marriage that will last as it seems to be built on mutual respect and love.

Over the weekend, we went to the Aquarium, Boston Commons, Copley Square, and a bit of Newbury Street. Abe and Louie's is a restaurant in Copley Square that I had visited on a business trip previously. They served the best steak I've ever had. It was so good. I couldn't remember the name of the restaurant, but we walked by it so I thought I'd blog it in case I ever needed a reference in the future.

I wasn't expecting much from the Aquarium, but it was actually quite impressive. They had a nice penguin exhibit/pool area with some educational lectures. They also had a large tank in the center of the building, which housed a lot of sea life that I've had the fortunate experience to dive with. It just made me crave another diving trip.
