New passport

Apparently the government is coming out with a new passport with added security features. Not sure when these are going to go into circulation, so if anyone has heard about specific dates, let me know. I'd like to get a new passport, but I wonder how much the cost is going to go up with the fancy new pages and images. Also, my goal is to travel to all 7 continents (or 8, as some might think) on one passport. I'm approximately half way there in the current passport, which is actually less than a year old so I'd hate to start over with a new one. So it looks like I might just wait 10 yrs for my current one to expire before I get one of these nifty new passports.
