Vacation Dreams

I often wonder what I would do if I were to be unemployed right now. I keep hoping that my current company decides to get out of the business and let everyone go (with decent packages). At one point, it was a realistic prospect but things have changed and the executives have begun exploring other options. There's still a slim chance that I might get my wish, but it's not looking promising.

I often daydream about where I would travel if I were to become unemployed. My ideal situation would be to have around 3-6 months off to travel around different areas. There are a few trips for next year that have been tossed around by various groups of friends - possibly a trip to Morocco, a trip to the Riviera Maya, a cruise to Alaska, and a trip as yet to be determined to celebrate 30th birthdays. I'd also like to squeeze in a diving trip at the Great Barrier Reef if I can. If I were to stay employed in my current situation, I would definitely not have enough vacation days to accomodate everything. So, bottom line, wish me luck that my company closes its doors. I need an extended vacation...
