Decisions, decisions
A few months ago, I had signed up for a 10k race thinking that I would have enough time to prepare and get physically ready. Unfortunately, the race is this weekend and time just wasn't on my side.
I'm contemplating whether or not to back out. After the last race, which wasn't even as long, my knee was killing me and I couldn't even bend it without wincing for a couple of days. I'm afraid that I might do long-term damage if I keep this up. I have what my orthopedist referred to as "movie-goer's knee", also known as patellofemoral syndrome. I already believe that I'll develop arthritis as I get older. Maybe by the time I get to that age though, technology will be so advanced that it won't be difficult to just get replacement knees. Quick 2-hour surgery and I'm all good to go.
If I back out of the race, it'll be more difficult for me to complete my 9 qualifying runs to be automatically entered into the 2007 marathon (which I'm not even sure that I'll go through with).
On the other hand, it's a great way to get in some much needed exercise...
