Ahhh...

...it's nice to have internet connection at home again. My internet has been out of order for the past week. It's sad how dependent I've become on being able to get online for the smallest tasks. Anyway, after several annoying phone calls to Time Warner (where their customer service is on par with IT support - "have you tried unplugging the modem?"), I finally got an appt.

The silver lining is that the tech guy actually showed up 15 min prior to my appt time block, so I didn't actually have to sit around and waste 4 hours waiting for someone to show up. Anyway, after the tech runs all the diagnostics in the apartment, he concludes that he needs to go up on the roof to check the connection. Turns out there's an alarm on the door to the roof which is only deactivated with a key from the building's super. At this point, I'm starting to worry since he's telling me that he can't sit around and wait and he can't come back today either. I'd have to reschedule another appt, which pretty much means waiting another week without internet - which is not an option to me. I call my super, who lives 2 bldgs down so she's generally easily reachable. However, today she happens to be at a doctor's appointment. DAMN! She says she'll try to figure something out and will call me back. At this point, the tech guy is practically tapping his toes, just waiting. Thankfully my super called me back within a few minutes and tells me her daugher's at home and I can pick up the keys from her. Thank You!!

This whole NY system is messed up. Who would have thought to make sure that the roof door is unlocked for the cable appointment. I suppose these are things you have to think about when living in an apt in NY. This never would have happened in Texas...
