Zaha Hadid
I stopped by the Guggenheim over the weekend. The current exhibit displays the works of an Iraqi architect named Zaha Hadid. The exhibit included models of current and future projects along with semi-abstract paintings of various concepts drawn by the architect herself. Her works are incredibly modern and she believes in the flow of things, so many of her buildings have minimal right angles or corners. It seemed like the museum really focused on her creation of the Vitra Fire Station in Weil am Rhein, Germany along with the BMW factory in Leipzig, Germany. There was a video explaining her design of the BMW building and how she was able to incorporate the company's open environment philosophy in the layout of the building as well as creating an efficient production factory. Being more of a left-brained thinker, it's hard for me to fathom (let alone explain) the creativity and artistry that goes into such thorough design. If you're in the area, you'll have to check out the exhibit yourself.
